Norbury win Guild competition!

The annual 6-bell competition within the Chester Diocesan Guild took place this evening at Poynton. Although the team expected from the Wirral failed to make the competition, all four other branches were represented and we managed to win the trophy, named “Benny’s Box” which apparently (according to the information inside) contains “The Ashes”.

Rather than a direct cricket reference, “The Ashes” refers to the firey remnants of the “Stay” from one of the bells at Goostrey tower!

The band rang 120 changes of “Plain Bob Minor” and were:

1 Joyce Gardner

2 Debbie Houghton

3 Peter Broadbent

4 Rorick Houghton

5 Geoff Gardner

6 Simeon Farrington (C)
