We have a new curate starting at Norbury Parish Church in a couple of weeks and therefore plan to ring a quarter-peal to welcome him to the church.

Listen out for the bells before evensong on Sunday 11 July!

Thursday 24th June – no practice!

Due to the England football match occurring at the same time, we have cancelled this week’s practice due to a lack of numbers.

Everything will be back to normal next week (1st July)

Norbury come second in striking competition!

The annual “6-bell” competition within the area was held at Disley last Saturday and the Norbury band came a very close second to the winners (Macclesfield) with only a single fault separating the results. Nine bands took part in all making the result very pleasing indeed!

Notice: visiting band on Mayday

If you’re wondering why the bells are ringing between 9:30 and 10:15 on Mayday (May 3rd), we’ve got a visiting band from the Wirral on a tour of this area and they’re starting off at Norbury.

No practice in Holy Week

As you may be aware, this week is Holy Week and it is traditional that church bells fall silent during this period. Thursday, the day of our normal practice also happens to be Maundy Thursday. Therefore there will be no practice this week although service ringing will be as normal on Easter Sunday (11th April).

Peal Scored!

This evening we completed a Peal of “Plain Bob Major” consisting of 5056 changes (rows of of the bells ringing) taking 2 hours 43 minutes. The band was:

2 Claire Bennett (first peal)

3 Stephen Hughes (1st in method)

4 Simeon W Farrington

5 Rebecca Glen (1st for association)

6 Angela Gardner (1st in method)

Thursday 12th February – practice is cancelled!

We are ringing a “peal” on Thursday evening which will start at 6pm and last for approximately 3 hours. Therefore, we have cancelled this week’s practice to make room for this.
